How to Handstand

The handstand is a fantastic means of genuinely feeling integration in the body. What is integration? It is seamless neuromuscular communication which leads to effortless and powerful movement. Neuromuscular being the connection between the brain and the body which is the key to health and athleticism.

The difference between what I call a “broken” handstand and an integrated one is analogous to sitting in a chair missing a leg. Its possible but not comfortable and will cause a lot of undue strain.

The magic of hand balancing is how apparent the need to find a “stack” in your system becomes in achieving ease and strength. This is the same equation when we are standing on our feet, simply not as blatantly obvious until your system begins breaking down from years of “unstacked” movement.
